With 180 Str(Unbuffed) my 23 Sk does a helluva lota dmg. Doing an LDoN, was hitting normally for 40-60 dmg. When my 32 Paly has it he hits for 90-130 dmg(Though I prefer my ACG,+15 Wis is nice, dmg too)

I know what drops it, after carful research on Alakazam site, lol its an (A Lesser Shadow) if you look at him on the Beastiary hes holding it in the pic and if you do an Alt+F to do a find and type in Hander and search it will take you to the part of the Posts that tells you its the Lesser Shadow that is holding the Darkedged 2 Hander. THis sword's graphic is just so frickin awesome and nice damage and delay too.
I only had to buy this sword for 56pp in da bazaar so i got it for cheaper than i shouldve! I love this sword.

Yes it is silverish with inlaid scrolling. And to Hakunin: IMHO -- I am now season 29 and have used both the BABS and the Darkedged -- I prefer the Darkedged which hits in the high 40s and 50s half the time because it seems to perform better and because of the bonus mana and strength. If you have a wt reduction bag (I have two) the wt issue isnt a problem and this weapon more than makes up for the 1 extra point on the BABS. Besides, the BABS looks like a newbie weapon in graphics (blech).

Okay, should I go with this or a BABS? BABS is 24/39 and darkedged is 23/40, but with stats. I'm a pally if that's important. Thanks in advance.

I was given this sword yesterday as a gift (even after I told the person I had a BABS; I was thinking the Babs would be better because of the 1 pt + - havent tested this theory yet).
Dracion: You can't beat the wicked look on the graphics -- it looks like a wide-edged 3 ft long [figuratively speaking] scrolled sword -- the kind you like to show off. The only big drawback is the blinking weight - 15 stone vs. 2.5 stone for Babs.
My pally is now level 23 -- plan to do more 2HS practice now that my 1HS is maxed for my level.

Its a Silver Sword, looks like a 1 handed, what would be a handle and a half. In the center blood grove of the blade are sprawling runes.
Another very nice weapon, up to par with its looks are the Spiney swords. They however have that "C" shaped hilt, like the sword from Jason and the Argonots. I cant really remember the hild on this one id have to log in.
Its a gorgous weapon.
And granted you still lose Stamina when you fight the weapon has a +6 Strength. 15-6 .. is 9 weight. Thats an interesting thing, Technically the more Strength you have the more damage you can do, although it is heavy.

I was looking for cheapish 2 handers for my new SK... and there really wasnt much else better than this for less than 500pp. And I got this for 100pp on E'Ci. Great deal for the money. Will last my SK long enough until I can/need to get something better for him. The extra STR is great for my DE SK, the INT I could do without though, but I'll take it.
All in all this is probably one of the best bang for your buck deals in EQ. This definitely beats the BABS once damage bonus sets in. 40 is the magic number for delay on 2h weapons. All in all 100pp for this is awesome.

im in pludal now hunting the bandits and stuff like that in a group. im useing this sword wich i bought. ok this is what went down. i was hitting regular for about 25-30 then i get jumped almost die. i got healed. but while i got jumped i just started hitting for 47 it was crazy now i hit in the high-low 40's i love this sword. i also have the centium ss so whenim in danger i bust it out so i hit faster. i hit for about 30 with that. man am i a tank or what 47 at lvl 20 with 2 handed slashing at 50 i think thats good. i sugjest that all those pallies and wars get this sword and work up there 2 handed slashing. i got this sword for 125PP on the drinal server

this sword is awesome the stats r good the dmg is good the delay is ok but for the wep dmg its a good deal i got this for my pally is the bazaar last night i got it for only 125pp good deal for the drinal server. my main char and only char is my lvl 16 pally

Damage bonus is based solely on your lvl, take a look at all the weapons you are holding, if one has a bonus, they all do. The bonus has a bigger effect on less delay weapons, ie, there is a bigger difference with a +5 bonus to a 10/20 weapon, which then becomes a 15/20 weapon, vs. a 20/40 which becomes a 25/40 weapon. That is why low delay weapons are more desirable at higher lvls.
Close.. but not *quite* a 20/40 weapon with a bonus of 5 does not become 25/40.. it's still 20/40. The 5 damage is raw damage added on to the damage you do to a mob. You are right that fast 1 handers will be more desirable because of this, because it still increases the overall damage you do. with TWO handed weapons however, a higher delay results in a large bonus, so you've got to experiment to find what works best.

Can someone explain the damage bonus of 40+ delay weapon to that of one that has less than a 40 delay. I take it from these posts this weapon will have a higher Bonus than a BABS. I play a DE SK and currently have a BABS. Weight is always a probelm, but if this is a superior weapon then I will have to find one. Thanks.

BABS is a Blackened Alloy ******* Sword. Not much special other than it's a 2hs 24dmg 39dly +2 vs poison, counts as a light source, and sells for around 100pp.
So, yeah, for raw dmg., it's probably better than this. If not, then definately for the price.

ok i should have hit spellcheck before i posted but who cares. the point is that i need strength and int for my SK this thing gives me both while still letting me drop greenbloods like bad habits and still pulling all the elven babes in faydark. The Pimp is back and his tool is cool.
well just my 2cp (.5 after taxes), this thing KICKS ***. I bought this a Dark Reaver and I pulled the BABS out of my rangers inventory before i hit "delete character" and for my Human Shadow Knight, this thing kicks all ***. I put the babs away for a future twinking and i am holing on to the reaver till 30 when the siphon strength proc kicks in. but i the babs blows compared to this thing. besides i look like Pimp Almighty carrying this thing, with the BABS I look like Johnny Punchclock who made his own sword in shop class. By the way, i bought this and the Dark Reaver in the Bazaar on Lanys for 25pp each. DAMN I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER. again just my .5

I really don't understand how someone can actually think this sword isn't better than a babs. The 1 point difference in delay isn't going to make that much of a difference.
I could understand how some might find the weight distasteful. I think of it as more of a large race weapon, much as a de sk might fight sentient armor annoying (I Hate having 157 int, instead of 200 str). Small races might also find blood ember armor distasteful too.
I have a level 44de sk, and a level 18ogr sk, and I certainly would much rather have this weap than babs for both. The weapon will perform better than babs significantly damage and tauntwise.

You guys are nuts the babs blows compared to this at mid levels. Got one of these for my 32 Pally a week again and let me tell ya the thing ROCKS!! Was using a a Combine Arbitrator sword 30 dmg 43 dly +15 Wis but found I do a whole lot more damage with this sword and hit a whole lot more. Plus it looks kinda neat on a dwarf its taller than me.

Why the DE 2H wins:
-stamina over 100 means your yellow bar is just a jump meter
-2h weapons with a delay 40 or above receive a bigger damage bonus than ones below 40
-6str is nice for damage output although that still leaves you 7 stone heavier than weilding a BABS (2 stone weapon with no str vs 15 stone weap with 6 str)
-3 sv poison isn't all that practical, most stats seem to be more effective every 5 points so unless you start with a sv poison of say 28 or 33 or something close to a 5 or 10 then you wont benifit.
-6int is nice for shadowknights and the 20 mana is slightly useful to a ranger or paladin as well.
-Looks aren't everything but they are something and the DE 2H looks nice while the BABS looks like you raided the midget barracks for a weapon.

Good post. But I am unsure of what you mean with the 'leaves you 7 stone heavier' statement. One stone is equal to 14 pounds or 6.36 kilograms. Are you saying that this sword weighs 98 pounds more?! (7 times 14 is 98) Or does a stone in EQ differ from the English system? Either way, good post again.
By convention the unit of weight in EQ is a stone. But said stone has no real conection with the English system.

Actually, a stone is equal to 2 lbs. this can be seen through fishing. If you catch a 2lb fish, it weighs 1.0 4lbs 2.0 8lbs 4.0

My Dark Elf Shadow Knight has one of these and it does not display any damage bonus, and yes I do own Luclin. I wanted to know if it automatically adds the bonus into my attack / delay or if mine's just messed. because, according to you signature, your shadowknight is level 7. The standard calculation for Damage bonus (for 1hnders, not sure of the one for 2h but it's similar) is DMG bonus = (level - 25) / 3. So at 28 you get a dmg bonus of 1 on all one handers. Two handed weapons get a different formula, and yet another is used for high delay two handers. Haven't figured those out yet. But basically, until you hit the late 20s, you won't see a damage bonus.

This sword is the sheez mang.
If you've seen it then ya know what I'm talkin bout.
I got mine from a kind druid for 250pp - this beast of a sword is worth 1k imho.

Solution to the BABS vs. D2H dilemma?
Buy em both - I use BABS when soloing (weighs only 2 stones) and use D2H in groups.
