Lol. I remember fighting in Kael on my first server and these rotted. They just werent worth carrying back to town at all. Now starting over on a progression server I found 2 of these on a vendor and they look SO much better to an untwinked L13. Freeking awesome find.
My SK on DRo, Sinalain, found these for sale in her guild hall for about 5pp, and they served her well at the start of her career. I just recently started an Ogre SK on Rodcet Nife, and my level 19 Ranger found one of these in ShadowHaven for about 6pp. Not an outstanding weapon, but perfectly serviceable for a young character beginning his career in Norrath. Especially with an Ogre's strength behind it, level 3 Gornaksin routinely hits for 20, which is enough to slay most Dark Blue Feerott mobs in one blow, and can take down a yellow in three solid hits (now if he'd just get some skillups. . .) There are better wepons out there, that much is certain. It is also certain that this is one of the best newbie weapons in the game, period.
I'd have to totally agree with you Erik. I've used one of these on every single character I've started that could use one, until I was able to attain better. I usually try to keep a partial bag of these in the bank to give out to newbies or to low lv's looking for a magical weapon. There's nothing like playing 'wack-a-rat' at lv1 or 2 and killing it with 1 hit for 18dmg, lol. Just my 2cp.
Some of the earlier posts say that this sword isn't all that great, but to my untwinked warrior it has bee a great weapon. I was lucky at lvl 5 to score a 2 handed bronze sword and I have been using it till two nights ago when I bought this sword from Vallon the merchant in N.Ro. I was strapped by no cash. The very limited damage dealt by the other one handed slashing swords I could buy made them unattractive to me. When I bought this sword, my one hand slash immediatley went from 4-12 damage to a consistent 20-22 damage. This weapon is great!!! Again I'm doing things the hard way -no contacts, no twinks, but this sword has really saved the day for me the last two nights that i've had it.
On Tarew Marr, up in Luclin, in the bazaar there is a NPC (sorry, not sure of name) that seems to sell these constantly for a little more than 5pp each. I cant say if the NPC has a constant supply or it's just people unloading these GML on him :)
So before auctioning for one, check out the bazaar, in the middle section. Hopefully you can luck out and get one
Found this with my bard in North Qeynos in the building just past the gate......the merchant had it for me and my friend even after we bought it.....so it seems it has it in stock.
Bought one last night in Freeport for just over 5pp. Unbelievable considering the prices they charge for even standard non-magical items. After I bought it I put it into inventory, then rechecked the merchant and he had another one. Kind of odd that.
I was taking a trip to Thurgadin to check out prices on coldain velium weapons and saw this for sale for 6pp. Snapped that puppy up and gave it to my dwarf paladin, level 5. All I can say is for the damage and speed, it's better than a rusty 2 handed sword AND you can use a shield at the same time. Good enough for my pally until something better comes along, or I can afford a velium weapon. I'm not twinked and don't have many contacts yet to get better so I am happy with what I get.
some guy gave my lvl 4 ranger 20pp when i was asking for 4 gld, so i went and got a full suit of leather and a finly crafted Shan`Tok`, then i saw one of these for 5pp at a shop, didnt sell my stuff cause i didnt know what it was worth, my bad, but it seems like the speed is alittle under par, is it really worth this much?
Hah, wondering around near High Hold pass I found another one of these babies in a shop, so now knowing its value i bought it only to be slaughtered by undead. it took me three hours to get my corpse back, but i did, and now, you can own this sword, only 60pp on Brell Sirillis. just look for Quishen and give me a tell :)
i dont want to be mean or anything but this weapon kinda blows in case you dont figure it out why people keep buying them at merchants its because they arnt that great and arnt even worth going through the seling process to get 25pp! and they just sell them to mercs snce they are so easy to get. well just my 2cp
*ducks for some serious flaming*
warior of the 37th season barbarian of course
a kunark rhino gores warloth for 60dmg warloth says " die you green monkey warloth says i will avenge your mother rolas says to the group this guy is weird
lol all you green monkeys who think this sword is good its not so im just balbering now but i wanted to tell you guys that
Not that great? What planet are you on? Where else are you going to get that kind of ratio for 5, count them 5, plat? So you're a 37 warrior, big whoop, of course you've seen better weapons. Doh. For those of us lesser mortals, this is a fine blade that churns out the damage and saves the day.
Green monkeys, indeed. Learn to a) spell and b) punctuate, and maybe I'll pay attention to you.
Amen. I have a Shadowknight on a different server from my mains so he's untwinked and doing stuff the hard way. Lucked out to find a bronze longsword rotting on a madman corpse and lucked out even more when I found this at a merchant for 5pp. Immediately my high hits went from 10-11pts to 20-21pts at level 8. Plus my shield bash. This weapon was a godsend to me (heh, along with the 1pp Purity belt I bought).
I use this sword (giant militia) with a combine schimitar and during crunch time, it comes trough for me time and again... I am at lvl 20 in Oasis of Marr. i have dual wield and double attack. with double attack, im hitting at 35 to 40 on the first hit. then add in my kick which i got late but is up to 75 with a 11 point wollup... i hit this one creature once at 75 points, 2 double attacks in a row...WOW... good sword i bought mine for 65pp... it is worth is worth it... oh yea i am a ranger cant beat this combo...
If you are looking to keep your agro down, then a Wurmie and one of these with a haste item (FBSS for instance) ROCKS! If your Ench is buffing you with Speed of Shissar, you will crank out nice damage without a care in the world for agro. The only downside is the weight. You will get worn out in an extended fight with a Wurmie/Militia combo.
You want to WHAT? Keep the aggro/hate DOWN? Then DON'T get the enchanters LEVEL 60 EPIC weapons spell cast on you. YOU N00B! Yes, you will crank out the damage with that combo. But if you are higher level? This sword isn't worth a darn! There are MUCH nicer weapons out there. To keep aggro/hate: Low delay, proc'ing weapons in the primary hand. To LOOSE aggro/hate: HIGH delay/HIGH damage no proc weapon in the primary. Simple mathmatics.
No duh. Why do you think I suggest these two? Decent damage, low delay (high damage Wurmy, middle of the road Militia, not many that do as much for the offhand). I have NEVER had a problem with me out-taunting the warrior with this weapon combo (I stay OFF my taunt button and only snare towards the end of the fight).
As for being a newbie, I have been playing since beta and have a pretty decent idea about what works and what doesn't. I am always open to new ideas, however, posted from articulate, intelligent people, not dewd-speaking losers with nothing better to do than flame a class comment that doesn't concern them.
When you have played a Ranger to post-50, come back and we'll talk.
Don't be such a jerk. I'm not a twink either, and my warrior at 22 would have completely embarrassed your oh-so-freakin-badass 25 warrior...even then I had SCHW, Iceflame, Jboots, etc...stuff I earned myself. It's okay to be proud of your accomplishments, but keep it to your arrogant self. A warrior can't gain honor by running his mouth...he can only earn it the hard way.
This weapon has got to be the best bang for the buck, err, pp, that can be bought off of a vendor. My Ranger was in need of a serious 1h slash upgrade, but didn't have a lot of money on him. So, I took my Druid on a trip to Thurgadin to check out some of the merchandise the ice dwarves had for sale. One of the first merchants I checked had this little gem of a weapon on him for under 7pp. I saw the stats, (11dmg, 39dly, magic) and couldn't believe my eyes. The best part of it is he had 2 on him, and it looked like this sword is a permanent item on this particular vendor. This is by no means the best 1h slash in Norrath, but the insanely low cost of this weapon for the stats on it is UNBELIEVABLE! Needless to say I gated my Druid back to where my Ranger was and dropped them off to him. I was a very happy camper this day.
I aggree, I was in Qeynos doing the gnoll fang quest with my lowbie warrior. Only lvl 6 at the time. I'm selling off my short beer and coudn't belive it!! Here is this sword, for 4p,2g,8s!!! I ran back to the bank and grabbed all the cash I could and bought the only 2 off the vendor. Obvioiusly there aren't anymore there, but it was a great weapon that tripled my damage output!!
Hello. Im the idiot who paid to much before. Just wanted to come back and say these ARE pretty darn good. Look at the date of my last post and then this one. I was level 14 then and now im 17. Wielding 2 of these is pretty awesome.I hit for much more than before. Having 2 offsets the higher delay too. The constant flow of critical (50)hits is a heck of a lot higher than i was getting before. Pretty nice for 1HS at this level. The extra money I stupidly paid is worth the fast leveling im getting with these swords.
ok so im an idiot.Someone offered 2 of these to me.I thought I could use them both since I just got duel wield. Id never heard of them so i quickly looked it up here while i was talking to him (2nd comp very helpful). he wanted 200p. i saw the price of 86p here and told him so.He asked for 160p and I took them. Its only after he left that i scrolled down the page.....UGH! why is the price at the top of the page soo freakin high. Who comes up with those prices?!! I am a non-twink and i worked my *** off for that money. I dont feel screwed by HIM, I feel screwed by these boards!!
To tell you the truth, my friend, there are no internet resources that provide entirely accurate pricing information. The reason is that the prices of items fluctuate so greatly between servers and over time. Some servers are much older with well-established characters who have seen it all (and sold it all at EC, nerfing the prices!). When Kunark first came out, the new weapons cost an arm and a leg and now they're as common as a Fine Steel Longsword! The best resource that I use for pricing information is a simple 'PC' auction. If you are guilded, your higher level mates can be the best pricing resource around. That's my 2cp
#Anonymous,
Posted:May 29 2001 at 11:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm here to say THANK YOU to who ever that put 2 of these in the hands of the Dervish at NR, so now I can really twink my warrior on dual wield.
