This weapon is listed as being able to go into secondary or Primary Melee spot. I can only put it into Primary Slot for some reason. I am currently a 16 Level Shaman on Morrel-Thule. Is this because I'm a Shaman or is something wrong?

It's probably because of your class. I would guess that it could only be put into secondary melee by someone that has dual wield.

i am a rouge and i got this weapon and when i become lvl 13 which is only 3 away i am going to put my velium spear and this weapon in and i think that would be a good combo

That is correct. A shaman cannot duel wield, therefore they cannot put it in the secondary slot.

Believe it or not, I got one of these from a pack rat in the Paineel newbie zone when I was level 3. So much for killing 50+ cougars!

hehe, someone handed this to me while I was waiting for the boat to Faydwer on the freeport docks. My char was a level 5 rogue, now he's level 20 and he's still kicking **** with this thing.

this is also a good weapon for shamans to start working on thier piercing skill. My level 10 shaman went to iceclad docks just to see vellius for the first time, and someone hunting cougars let me loot it. I had no idea that a sham could use a dagger type, but this is good practice till i get one of the higher level spears.

I was given one of these last night by a twinked fellow rogue who took pity on me I guess. Guy was switching between an SBD and a Tombcarver. Asked me what I had and I said 'goon dirk. He kinda chuckled and said "here", and gave it to me. Delay's a bit long compared to many of the piercing weapons at our disposal, but the 50+ point backstab is NICE.

You may be thinking : Geese, its got a high dmg, good BS! but...the BS is determined by your dely too, how long inbetween them. It sucks! For a newb, go with anything but this! mabye a tomb carver! somthing!!

Newbie, backstab is not determined by delay. It is 10 seconds in between backstabs regardless of weapon unless you have haste.
Lisboa, I beleave he/she was talking about the damage on the weapon, (directly related to the ammount of damage.
I can Get 66 BS so far with my 7/20 burning rapier. With a skill of 110 or something.
I may get one of these to swap in just for backstab, then put my lower delay back in for fighting.
Lis, you are right the delay doesnt matter.
Damage does though.

I was going to get one to my Rogue twink and I just poped in looked around at the wendors and found 1 selling them. 45pp and I hade it.
But then I kill a few cats to see if I can get a earing and the second I kill drops fang HAHA!

i'm 24 rogue, although this weapon is slow compared to many piercers it's nice to hit the big backstabs at lower levels
for instance i'm 24 halfling rogue 103 str 125 skill, i bs for about 90 - 100 max with this
was in frontier mountains with a guild group ( i was lowest) casters getting resisted and i'm plinking away around 80 points per bs, not too shabby, heh

Bought one of these from a cleric on his way back from the frozen lands awhile back for only 10PP! My Barb rogue with 116 str and backstab of 132 skill max BS=91 so this is a great little weapon so far but working on rapier so will see...hehe

This is not a common weapon off the cougars. I've killed 50+ snow cougars trying to get my cougar claw earring, and haven't seen one bloodstained fang.

It's definitely not a common drop, but they do seem to drop the fang *slightly* more often than they do the earring.

I have a lvl 10 rogue, this thing has helped me alot. I'm on Druzzil Ro and some nice dwarf gave it to me for free. Whoever you are, you gave it to me near the wall to the underground entrance in east freeport. My max so far with this is 19, and my max backstab is 39 (just got backstab lastnight) with my halfling rogue with only 76 str(I know I know). Good weapon though.

Same here.. my highest BS is 53
My rogue is now level 12 with a backstab skill in the 40s and a str around 85 and my max backstab is 55! I'd recomend that any young rogue get themselves one of these unless they are a major twink. I got mine by walking to north ro and taking the boat to velious, they drop rarely off snow cougars but usually the people out there think it kinda sucks so they will either sell you one cheap, give you one or in the worst case you can buy one off the vendors in the igloos for 44pp and change (with 90 charisma) which is still worth it and less than the 200 some guy tried to sell one to me for in commons or the 50 plat I would have paid to be another rogue sporting a goon dirk.
Oh yea, please don't be a rude n00bie and run to velious and ask people to give you one of these in the channels all day (/shout, /ooc, /auction) just offer to buy one cheap and politely remind anyone asking for more what the vendors will sell to you for and you will end up with a cheap new weapon instead of just being another person on some higher level player's ignore list. "/auc looking to buy a bloodstained fang for less than the 44pp that the vendor charges" worked well for me...

I just got one the other day i'm a lvl 8 rogue on brell and have'nt had the chance to use it yet but i have mostly used a 1HS weapon so i'll need to pratice in piercing but i cant wait till i get BS so this weapon will have it's full efect

GREAT weapon for a new rogue. With this thing, STR of 120, and a backstab skill of 25, I was backstabbing for 45 at level 10!
It also has a decent damage/delay ratio, to boot. Best weapon under a thousand plat for a rogue, IMHO.

I am beginning to think, that the prices are bogus on this site. Sellers trying to prop up the market or something. I bought my blood stained fang for 20pp. I went to velius and convinced the people hunting cougars that it was more profitable to sell to me to 20 than to sell to a vendor for peanuts or to take the fang back to the old word and spend lots of time reselling. The fang "may" be worth 50 to some twink with too much money, but for the rest of us we can just sneak into velius. If you can not get the fang for a deal from somone hunting cougar then go to the igloos and buy one from a vendor. Saw 2 fangs for sale for 45 plat.

I dont know about auction price, but i was in EC on the day of SoV's launch and there was one of these for sale at a vendor for 44pp with a 67 cha. I personally though it was a good deal for the dmg/dly ratio so i bought it and gave it to my rogue that i just created
