YEah let's face it by the time you can even use the effect these are worthless. If I had these things I'd trade them in for something with some stat modifiers. Even Acrylia Studded would be better than lugging this thing around. At least hte BP and Greaves have some decent stat modifiers and the bracer at least has summon arrows. But this piece........ no this is just worthless.
Except that it frees up a spell gem slot and
(I don't know for sure) stacks with another dot?

By the time you can use the clicky, you already have better spells in the Stinging Swarm line and Stinging Swarm will be nothing more than a very minor annoyance to the mobs that you will be fighting from that point onwards even at max damage per tick and assuming no resists. Freeing a spell gem doesn't make up for that.

I lvl 20 and i cant belive u cant use them till the upper end =[
Just replace my Ry'Gorr Iron Armguards with one of these. I really wanted to use the effect because my conjuration sucks, but I just dinged 31 today so now I have to wait. The AC isn't bad though, so it will help keep me from getting beat up as much and thank heavens it isn't *gasp* green.

why is it to use these things you have to be 45 the spell is like level 30 for rangers and 20 for druids and snare is like level 6 druids and 9 rangers whats the big deal if we can use them ealry it doesnt make no since......
At the time Tolans was supposed to be uber high level armor for rangers. I guess there are now a lot of pieces that make some of the Tolans gear look sad. The point of the clickable effect is not so much the effect itself, but the fact that you don't have to have that spell occupying a spell slot to use it. Having all the Tolans gear about doubles the number of spells you can have active at one time and I think that it would be inappropriate to have that ability at too low a level. 45 seems about right to me all things considered.

This piece along with the rest of the gear is used for opening spell slots. Instead of haveing to mem a spell you can click, equip this and mem a spell like a heal or a dmg shield. Its just to make things easier in that respect. The downside is the fact that they are only 18 ac and the click effect, where as you could buy many other items with much better stats. Still tho, me likies mine :)
Sure it makes sense... ALL the Tolans gear is level 45 to work... including snare which we get at level 1. What level a particular class gets a spell has absolutely no correlation to when it can be used as an effect from gear or procs on a weapon.

Cast time on this item is 4 seconds, very tolerable. Notice the range on this spell? 250. That's not bad at all, specially for those times where you run out of arrows, or you when the mob is at a higher level and you get that annoying "The target is too far above / below you". Nice way to pull the mob, and does a lil more damage while you're bringing it home. AC is very nice, although comparable to CC arms, I'd much rather have this handy effect than some stats. Also brown plate is cool look =)

I'm a lvl 21 ranger and at my lvl there is no freaking way i would get rid of them. I bought mine for 2k, which was a huge cash hit, but as soon as i look at the ac i know it was a good purchase! I just wish the proc lvl was a little lower. I still wish we didn't get shafted in terms of plate armor, and other large ac pieces, but at least we have something to look forward to: tolan's equipment.

now that i think of it, these arms aint that bad compared to the crummy dark assasin arms i got last night, off a lvl 57mob that took 3 groups to beat, ac14 str4 dex7 hp5, id figure they atleast give these more or as equal ac to the kunark counterpart, like the moktor armor that drops for plate classes, quite dissapointing rangers get shafted again with armor and weapon

I hardly ever post in these boards but I have a set of these and last night I broke 45 and now my pulling has totaly changed. These things ARE GREAT, here is why. They cast rather fast no mana and you get skill points when you use them just like casting the spell.
The AC is great as well.

Just so as to post some useful information here:
The cast time on these is NOT hideously inflated. It seems to be about the same as casting the spell. And it never fizzles.

I'm not going to post this in the pricing info, because it would skew it all to heck, but a friend saw one of these being auctioned the other day, and purchased it for 731pp. I then bought it off of him (him being a Warrior), for roughly that amount.
Not saying that you could always get this anywhere near that cheaply, but starving rangers, take heart: it IS possible to find some nice deals on Tolan's.
Now, just gotta wait 2 levels til 45 to actually get to play with the effect... :)

I have these sleeves, it's really all in all not the effect that makes them sell for 5k, it's then 18. Being a ranger and not being able to wear plate can stinks as far as ac goes.

Nothing to get excited about? I beg to differ. The AC is good until you get to higher end gear, most of which is NO DROP. No stats, no resists, but hey, that would be geting a bit too crazy. Obviously the main thing here is the DoT. You add up the effects of the Tolan's Bracer, Gloves, and this, and you turn your ranger into soloing kiting machine.
Snare is a REAL low mana spell, but when you are low on mana, it is nice. When I solo I will sometimes pull with it since it is free, if I think I can finish the mob before it will drop. (otherwise I use ensnare) The Bracer is godly, the arrows arn't incredible damage that you summon, but imagine being able to forage your food, summon your arrows, and only go back to town when you have to bank all your loot. Add to this the arms, and you have a FREE 117pt DoT you can stack as you bow kite, or better yet, root, stack this with Immoliate, and med(the druid way). When you run out of mana for that, you can start bow kiting, and you have an unlimited supply of arrows. Basicly as long as adds are not a problem, you have the potential to kite any non summoning, non caster mob you can land a snare on. Pretty nice. If you do it right, you can basicly remain untouched. Or root and stack dots and med until the mob is softened up a bit, then roll in and melee the rest of the way. Heal up and go again.

Someone's obviously missing the point here, yes it may be a Lvl 14 DRUID spell, but it is a Lvl 30 RANGER spell, and as we are talking about a RANGER only item, what it is to a druid is meaningless.

Speak for yourself. Only a lvl 14 spell proc but it uses no mana, & the things have a 14 ac. I just got a pair & I love them I use them all the time. When I am bored I go kill Hill giants with them. They make it much easier leaving more mana to root & snare.

Armor doesn't proc, Honust. Maybe you should be a little more careful tossing around the "newb" comments, eh? Otherwise you may find yourself plastered with it.

ok proc is usualy for weapons. armor is right clicked (trigered). suggestion right and hold the mouse over your arms in invitory and plase the resuliting floating image in the hot key bank. press the number of the hot key instead of haveing to right click it all the time.
