On AB, essence emeralds market is monopolized by a handful of players. As a result they are usually 1500-2000pp each. Good lord.
Yeah - it's a lot cheaper to just get a rez in the guild lobby from a cleric.
But when your cleric dies, most of your group wipes and your necro manages to FD, he can use one of these to rez the cleric and bring the group back to re-form and try again. That's the real beauty of it, so these babies sell at a premium.
I can attest to the Venin kill shot producing a rare EE - complete surprise the first time it happened to me! I hang onto them for that day when I need to rez the cleric for the group/raid to continue on without having to start over.

Small chance of creating after kill shot due to Venin. I thought there was another spell, a dot that also would create an EE upon kill shot with that spell.

Essence Emeralds cannot be bought from vendors, nor can they be sold to vendors...they can however be bought from real players in the bazaar. Essence emeralds are only made by a necromancer casting the spell "sacrifice" on someone....rules are they must be in your group....once cast they will get a message asking them if they wish to be sacrificed...once they click yes they die and you receive an essence emerald (its embued into a normal emerald so you must have these on you)bodies sacrificed in this manner CANNOT be resurrected. Essence emeralds are sold in the bazaar anywhere from 350 plat to 600 plat on Tunare server.
I distinctly remember buying this off a vendor somewhere...PoK, or PoTranq, perhaps? When we had lost a group member in PoV, this Necro asked me to replace his EE for him, and as the n00b I am I had to ask him what it was. Following his directions, I ran to PoT...surely not farther than PoK, and bought a few - so they ARE available from vendors.
