Originalnice little shammy lowbie item, makes those buffs last just a little longer and is a fairly easy quest if you make a stop in Halas for the bear pelts. I still wear them right now but i need to upgrade very soon.

Does this pair of boots really have this Extended Enhancement I effect?

I haven't done the quest since the early days of the effect being added, but yes, they really do have Entended Enhancement I on them. I did the quest twice, even. Cool for both my Pally (who can't Kick) and my Wiz (Invis, O'Keils Radiation, and my old defense spells). On an Erudite, they're a snappy black boot with gold tracing. Swank.

I sure could use some advise from you seasoned veterans on how I can make my character run faster without the random gift of SoW. Will these boots speed him up a bit? My character "Tiernaan" on E'ci server is a half elf ranger lvl 7. He runs so darn slow even with just leather armour. Perhaps there are other items that will speed him up just a bit? Not looking for SoW speed (would be nice though if possible), just anything that will tune him up to a more realistic speed. I will go nuts if I have to wait till lvl (what.. 34?) to get SoW. Any advise would be appreciated. :-)

Yep https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1721 Journeyman's Boots are probably the only item in the game that has an effect to make you run faster: SOW. but they are expensive.

I do wish J-Boots were as fast as sow, they are not, but 35 percent increase speed is pretty darn good over nothing. The effect is called "Journeyman's Boots". If you run with them next to a person with sow (higher level sow is faster than lower level sow) you will slowly lose the race.

The type of armor you wear doesn't effect your running speed (unless there are pieces with effects similar to SoW, but I don't think there are).
You could always MQ yourself some JBoots... just ask the price, and you'll see how expensive running fast is... your best bet if you don't have the cash... get to 3 and get your SoW... and try not to bother too many druids/shamans .... take some time and enjoy the scenery... you'd be amazed

Seems hard to outfit a caster. Other than the robe and a few choice items, it seems a lot of slots are lacking for anything you can get before level 30 or so. Somebody in my guild gave me a few nice pieces for my enchanter he wasn't using anymore, notably the Crystaline Robe, which looks great on dark elves. These boots, with their black leather look, go well with it. Fashion aside, these three pieces are an improvement over raw silk (at least AC wise) which is all most of my slots are filled with. Will have better eventually, but bear-hide is a nice standtby til I can acquire or afford better.

They're cool and they show up as a black colour- match my gloves of the gate caller perfectly ;). It took a while though, there were a whole bunch of Inkies killing the Millers. You can get this part of the quest with apprehensive faction, as well as the belt, but not the cloak.
