Picked this up for 7k on Quellious today. Hate the stat loss I'm gonna accrue for switching this out with the Fesive Doll from the Anniversary, but that focus effect just can't be beat.
Not sure but hard to find AE items on druzzil ro I was happy to drop 27k in cash and cloak of greater pernicity for this... Being a necro makes this basically affect 90% of the spells i cast :P. okey dokey have fun
After last week's patch, this doesn't work on anything that doesn't have a DoT component, and even of those, only those that last 6 ticks or more. Prior to this, these were selling on AB for close to 50kpp.
Shamen carry spears in their ranged. Monks carry javalins. Neither are short and compact. Why couldn't this weapon also be in ranged? May I also remind you this is a game?
because the range slot if we relate it to a real body would be an item typically carried on the back until ready to use. maybe in the case of knives or daggers slung along the belt, but usually one would tote a unused range weapon upon their back to make it less encumbering to move around. hence a bow is not a primary or secondary weapon. you dont wield a range weapon, you draw it when ready to use it.
Speaking as a person who wears this item, AFFLICTION EFFECIENCY DOES NOT WORK ON ROOTS. Don't ask me why, it does. Extended affliction *DOES* work on roots, but effeciency does not.
Not to mention it is a range item..... most range items have int or wis but not many of them have mana... yes some do and in vex thal you can get a good one BUT for the force needed to get this AND the fact that it is range who care.... people wearing this are saving mana and in some cases have MORE mana cause their range item only has int / wis (if they have capped out like i have)

The mana on this may be weak (and no doubt, it is), but the focus effect would more than make up for the lack of mana. You would be saving 25% mana on *every* spell that applies to this. So, Embracing Darkness would be 150 mana, instead of 200. Saryn's Kiss would be ~413 mana instead of 550. This applies to *all* Affliction-type spells 65 and under. Snare, root, DoT, lifetap/dot, fear, debuff, etc. And it still leaves room for specialization checks to reduce mana even further (if focus effects on spec checks work the same as on crits, the check would be done first and the focus effect would then be applied to the adjusted mana cost). If I could save 300+ mana easily on almost every mob, I'd gladly sacrifice some base mana from the item.
