Killed one gnoll commander tonight while trying to do the task quest for the "gnollish guardian ring" (as a level 17 beastlord) and this dropped. It was better than the padded collar I was wearing. I think it is funny that I got an uprade in blackburrow :)

I was soloing elites for a couple of levels and I have a glut of both spiked collars and studded leather collars. They seemed pretty good so I didn't want them to go to waste but now I have like eight of each. If you see me on Druzzil ro, send me a tell and I'll give you one!

Boronis, ranger of the 16th season.

I guess I'm one of those kind souls reffered to by frank. I'm only lvl 14 but if I gotz any spiked or studded collars I always try to give them away before selling them. So if you need one of these and are in the area of blackburrow or qeynos send me a tell, names Rorge 14 Ranger.

How much is it to buy one of these, either from a merchant, or from a player

Could be about 10pp from a merchant. From a player? There's quite a few higher lvls with kind souls that will hand these out to newbies in Blackburrow. It says they're rare, but not really. It sells for about 1pp to merchants, so anyone trying to sell one for more than 2pp should be shot. They're really common.

I agree with the previous message. In BlackBurrow our guild TORE through there in a single evening (mostly MID-levels) and came up with about 2 each. Enough to hand out to 20 players!
I would feel guilty selling it for more than 2-4pp.

Cheers,

That just goes to show you how poorly NPCs will price items. I suppose it was geared this way to enforce a player economy basis, since buying and selling to vendors is just plain bad. Good idea, and all, but it would be nice to be able to get a decent price on an item regardless, since you can't always find somebody willing to pick up an item off you. In any case, I digress.

I'd have to agree with the previous posts, though. I'd say no more than 5pp would be reasonable, since you have to at least go to Blackburrow and kill the darn gnolls to get the item, but on the flip side it's not that hard to get, or very good.

It doesnt show poor Ai or anything, the prices are set like that with a purpose, to encourage player trading.

Example:
Why does fine plate cost so much from a vendor? So you wont buy it from a vendor and get get it from a player who wants to blacksmith. These prices are designed to fuel the economy of EQ and to keep trading with other people a must.

at a merchant(with amiable+ faction), you can sell this for a little more than 1 pp. they sell this for around 32pp. i dont understand this IMMENSE difference...but most of the time i sell these to merchants. i can see how low lvl players will want to sell them for around 3, but being twinked all my EQ career, i didnt want to waste that time. they are quite easy to get, but that is at a higher level than when you would be in desperate need for it. i know most people(like me)just save up alot and use it as incentive for research materials(ie: bone chips, bat wings, rusty weapons and other low lvl loot). but if you are real cheap, you can take your lvl 5 character, make your way to the elite ledge and sit and wait until they get tired of looting theese P.
