Seems odd that this is HUM,ERU. It should either be usable by all Cazic-Thule priests, including Troll and Iksar Shamans. Or all evil priests 0or at least clerics) should have access. The Dark Elves get Initiate/Disciple/Regent quests so they aren't exactly getting the shaft here. I just started a Gnome Bertoxx Cleric and it sucks that i can't use this. Bertoxx only has an Initiate symbol. At least Cazic worshippers get a Disciple symol.
I was really thinking about questing for this shield till I checked the bazaar. Ended up buying a Crystal Webshield for 45p instead.
The amount of effort to get both the Powder and the Brain would be incredible. Many human clerics have to faction like crazy in the Warrens too. Even if you have a high-level character who can help MQ it, shoot, why not just buy him something like the linked shield?
I just completed my quest for the Dread Forged Shield. Ishva was a fun had 3 groups goin to kick doggy **** in Paw. The Re-animation powder was the confusing part, I could not get the gnome to respond to me he kept telling me to not give away his hiding spot, so I said oh well and handed the gnome in the closet my Greater lightstone and right away the abomination was screaming. it poped way down the hall behind the gnome, our tracker tracked it thru the door and we proceded to kill it. nice lil fight. The ice giant toes were by far the most easy part. I just got a tp to surefall and ran to the Icegiant camp in everfrost and a nice soul gave me a set off one of his kills. and on to the eye. now that was a lil bit of a challange. I had no group for this but got to loot one cause of another nice soul. there is my story hope it helps if your having problems or are just confused. I was 34th lvl when I finished this quest.

I'm a 52 lvl human cleric if Marr. To raise faction kill Kobolds in the Warrens. I killed 1747 Kobolds to get enouph faction. I tracked that with EQdiary, a log parser. In any case 1747 kills later was enouph to get a key from the Paineel guards, to get into Paineel, to do the quest. Remember there is anti-train code in the warrens. You can have no more the 3 mobs on you at any one time. What I would do was agro 3 who would then follow me, then run near a group of 3 or 4 others, cast an AoE spell which kill them all, and get 5 to 7 faction hits per cast, rinse and repeate. The best place to do this was back by the prince. Not many hunt near prince so you are not taking kills for the lower level people there.
Im sure this has been changed because I have been able to drag as much as 48 kobolds with me, I only take the ones with less than ~200 hp so my AoE will finish all of them off in one cast...I usually keep it to 20 or so at a time, but I could still get my spells off with 48 without worrying about having to zone because of the occasional lucky punk that interrupts. I was lvl 39 when I was doing my faction. Took no more than 4 1/2 hours game time to raise from kos to amiable, and this is with pulling them all to the door for newbies to loot, and helping them and others that came in to kill the froggy.
1700 kobolds OMG... Try killing a guy in a hut ... not sure of location but it's near the back wall. Anyways this guy is holding a nice CHA +10 staff and is accompanied by an erudite female. Who will just stand there and watch as you kill this guy. I killed him 17 times and had enough faction to get the key for paineel. If you want the CHA staff you have to disarm him. This guy cons green to my 47 DEF SK.
I too am a Human cleric of Marr. It only took me approx 1100 +Heretic faction hits in the Warrens to get from scowling to amiable (note, the guard will NOT give you a Paineel key if you are indifferent). I had also taken a -Heretic for killing Azzar once when he got in my way :) Maybe initial faction standings are different for Mithaniel Marr vs Erollisi Marr (I am with Erollisi)
On a note, you do not have to kill that many Kobolds in order to complete the quest. I killed about 400 to 500 to get faction to 'Dubious'. Then have someone in town open the elevator for you, and you can save alot of time on these quests. Gate out when done. These quests work perfectly on dubious faction.
What about the 'Ice Giant Toes'? I am a Human following Mithaniel Marr also. I would hate to kill 1747 Kobolds only to turn in my goods and find out I had the wrong toes! : ( > Plz reply, I am killing Kobolds in Tox Forest on The Seventh Hammer as we speak! hehe

Another good source of giant toes is from Gornit in Ocean of Tears. He's a hill giant on the seafury island. He drops all 3 types of Giant toes of the old world. Ice, Fire, Hill. I used toes from Gornit to complete my quest. Took about 30 minutes camping him to get. Also, he can be soloed easily by a 44+ cleric, unlike an Ice Giant.
I grouped and whooped on Ishva Last night, but am worried about the differences I am hearing on the "Ice Giant Toes". I would go and ask the quest fellow to give me the exact quote, but MOST likely am KOS and plan to spend a few day in Tox whooping guards to get faction back up. Anyone who has recieved this shield, could you please specify which toes worked? The Brain is no drop, the Eye is no drop, the Powder of Reanimation is no drop, but yet Ice giant toes drop all the time from IG's in Everfrost, and are not no drop?
Thanks,

I'm soooo glad I don't play some demi-human cleric, it would suck to see a superb shield like this be reserved for less than 1/2 the clericable races... oh wait. damn.
now i don't even want to hear about that, ye who can get a neck item with clickable clinging darkness (a snare/dot) that has 7 ac and +3 wis. i'd give up this shield remembering how many times i would have killed for a no mana snare (even if we got snare in the first place).
