Classes: The Cleric

Clerics -- the premier healer in the game. A popular class for any group, the cleric brings the ability to heal the party and keep you from dying, and can even bring you back from death at higher levels.

What is the best way to play a cleric? Can a cleric be soloed, and if so how? How should you play a cleric in a group? What spells are the best ones to buy and develop? what skills should a cleric concentrate on? What items should you seek out?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Cleric and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

So, there is some very nice breastplates out there for clerics. But as a Healer, I would prefer to look the part. I don't know of many priests or doctor types in history who wore Breastplates. Im level 58 now and would love to have some kind of Monks Habit or tunic or a robe (with decent stats of course) for my graphic. Do any of you happen to know of a robe with a cool graphic for me? BTW, I do have my Bloodsoaked priest's robe still from Shmendrik Lavawalker, but I only wear it for looks. It sucks dirt for stats.

As far as I know there are no cleric wearable robes with "good" stats. Best AC/HP gear for clerics is plate. Everquest is based off AD&D, not history, and in AD&D Clerics wear plate. If you want to roleplay your character with robes then I suggest you get a seperate set of robes just for roleplaying outside of grouping/combat situtions. Kinda like changing from work clothes into the evening clothes like what you can do now with your Bloodsoaded priest's robes.

Goldencat 65 Druid - Quellious
Goldenbones 62 Necromencer - Quellious
Goldenhen 62 Enchanter - Quellious

Why do you want a robe; so you can be more comfortable while your sitting around waiting to heal while others do all the fighting? Clerics need to be in the fight when ever possible! Yes, your main responsiblity is to keep the group alive but that does not mean simply healing. Clerics wear plate and shield bash because they are fighters. If it is a historical referance you are looking for, look no futher then the Special Forces. Everyone of there medics is trained to conduct complex surgical procedures in a combat environment and yes they wear chestplates (the Interceptor Bullistic vest, 16.5lbs).

Robe of the Azure Sky is a nice cleric robe, but whether it still drops or not, I'm not sure. It wouldn't be very easy to get if it does still drop though.

Think you're going to have to stick to plate.

To the best of my knowledge, the best cleric wearable robe is this one:

However, it's only available during the anniversary month, when the fabled mobs are up. Plan ahead :)

The following requires: Skeleton Illusion, Shade Silk Robe (or the like)

1. Equip your Shade Silk Robe (or whatever)

2. Click skeleton illusion

3. Equip regular armor while in skeleton illusion

4. Unclick illusion. You will have the robe graphics.

You can also have the robe graphics while in an illusion that supports them eg. Dark Elf. (do this instead of step 4)

Why not try for the Firefall Guardian Robe or Gown of the Chamberlain? They're both very chic and have useful CLR stats. There's always the Kelp Robe, too....
