Classes: The Bard

Bards - the jack of all trades. Each level is a new song and a new way to play. Handy with a weapon and able to wear decent armor, bards can hold their own in a fight. Plus, the ability to twist two to three songs without using mana gives the bard a magical ability like no other class.

What are the strengths and weaknesses of the bard? Can they solo, and if so how? How should they best contribute to the group? What is the best strategy to develop your bard? What skills and songs are the most important for you to master? What equipment should you be trying to get for your bard.

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the bard and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

LDoN and Swarm kiting?

I just started a bard alt and love him. One of the things that interested me in the bard was the broad range of applicable skills for LDoN adventures. Not only can we be excellent pullers but when adds come we can mez or even charm them. I have just hit my 20s so I am ready to go adventuring and I have a tactics question. When you are swarm kiting do the mobs come after you when you break charm and recharm another or can they be agroed by your new pet? If they could be agroed then swarm kiting could be beneficial in the dungeons, pull a single for your group, then when there are three left in the room charm one to attack the other two, once he is almost dead, break charm and charm a second to finish the job. By the time your group has killed a single you have probably killed one or two more or are atleast on the way. Just a thought, I haven't swarm kited yet so I don't know the dynamics. Thanks for all advice or thoughts. Also if you have any other LDoN strategies let me know.

Swarming indoors is a bad idea. Yes, the other mobs will go after your new pet but there needs to be a decent amount of distance between you and them first. Hard to do indoors. By the time your pet pulls off the aggro you have a good chance of being a bloody mess.

However, I agree, LDoN was made for bards. Lull (especially now that it lasts 30 sec) the extras (pray for no resists) and single pull. If you overpull, no problem. Mezz the adds. Hard to mezz more than 3 at a time since bard mezz only lasts 18 secs at your level. The same with charm song. Nothing like an overpull to keep your fingers and cursor busy. One little slip up and BAM! Wipe out! It makes you nervous as hell but when you pull it off the feeling of satisfaction just can't be beat. Your whole party is impressed and just loves you. "Wow! I never thought a bard could do that!"

More and more folks are realizing the value of bards in LDoN.
