okay i am an older EQ player and i just got back into the mix. what is this about a berserker? what makes them so much different than a warrior? what are the pros and cons? i heard they are good at throwing axes or somthing? are they more offensive than warriors? can they wear plate armor?

They recieve tomes all the way through their leveling. They are adept at throwing and you will skill up fast at it. Your throwing can eventually end up like the rangers bowing skills. Their main weapon is 2hs, battle axe been their main weapon of choice. Although new, they have yet to prove popular.
They are a cross between Warrior and rogue and favour light armour, very much another Dex class. They can be fun to play but have limited soloing abilites and not really sort after by groups either.

Lately, I have been grouping my berzerker in LDON hard adventures and have found him to also be able to control some aggro using his snaring ability. Most notably, he has had to do this when the puller is resisted and the whole farm comes a knocking.

I realize that I have yet to see his full potential (he being only 51), but he is undeniably a fun toon to play. His DPS is certainly decent and he can tank mobs to a limited degree. During a recent LDON, using his war cry ability in a melee heavy grouping with only a druid healing, single MOBs could be brought down with no member of the group getting under 90% hps.

In his current configuration, my zerker has about 4200 hp buffed, which seems plenty for a low 50's adventure. I have also not parsed his DPS but he seems to hold his own against warriors and rangers of comparable level. As for his axe throwing skill, I have admittedly not used it often (skill at 125 or so), but know that he does hit in the 40's and 50's and frankly, it just looks cool to see an axe flying at the MOB from the first person perspective!

With the new Omens expansion also, as well as GoD, zerkers get some very nice aa's... I grouped with a 65 zerker last night with 240 aa's.. he had all of the flurry/ frenzy/ offensive aa's and was putting out more dps than our tripple backstabbing rogue.. our mage was parsing the fights and the zerker was throwing out about 350 - 400 dps depending on mobs.. the rogue was getting around 300 dps.. zerker was using his epic weapon and rogue was using an ifir.. this was in PoE btw.. I keep hearing everyone talk about how inefficient berserkers are, but after seeing what i saw last night, i am a believer in this class. With weapons in GoD that i've seen for the berserker and the right aa's i can see the berserker becoming the highest dps melee class in the game for a long time to come.

DPS stand for Damage Per Second, and don't say sorry for asking questions here, thats the point of Allakhasam to Get you what you need to know, and from the sites I've seen there are none to match this one, some may have Info this does not, but Alla will have much more that the other site would have.
Nobody, when new, Knew 1% of the things they do now, I for one took quite a few levels before finding what DPS stood for.

As for my last post here I said I did not like the berserker, I can safeley say I have now teamed with a few that I like, and would gladly team with them again, I created one to give it ago and found it great fun, but at early levels it is damned hard to find groups unless on a server with other toons in a guild, then no matter what class you make you're home and dry.

Definatley gone up in my estimation from last post, but still not as fun to play as rogue, however toons are to taste and not everyones tastes are the same. I don't thing my style suits a berserker, and most certainly would not be a good one to team with. You do need to know what your doing with them at higher levels, I think it is the higher levels the real fun starts with them and I doubt i'll take mine that far.

I have played a beserker to 64th lvl and im darn near 65. i've yet to start getting my aa's as i saw getting 65 more imoportant.
i can tell you i have gotten my epic which will make a huge difference in any beserker you group with from one to another wether they're wielding that awesome 1.0 epic. +40 atk and haste worn best ratio epic in the game of 1.0's

i have been using yalp for the last few levels 59-64
i can tell you now that oow has come out that i've really seen changes in my dps and avg damage per hit.

im descently equip'd im not in a raiding guild to give you an idea of my equipment i got the tae ew chain bp ornate gloves lid and sleeves. a excelent set of oow shoulders the rest is pretty much stuff with 25-50hps on it.
i don't have many hp augs tho i do have a few stamina augs.

i am pulling on avg 85 dps. im doing about 130 damage per hit.
this inclues the crappy damage frenzy does. but whats good about frenzy is it has a check to see if you frenzy again. with my current heste set up of at least 70% (because of the clicky on my gloves) i can safely say i have seen my self rotate and get 7 attacks in a row against an ldon mob( this is actually the frenzy check allowing max rerolls and landing and hitting with my 3 attacks that i do double attack 3 frenzy's double attack)
the last double attack is at the beginning of the next round.. but it looks likes its all one if that makes sense. buffed i have around 6k hps.. fully buffed i have breached the 7k mark now with conviction and other new hp buff spells ( ther really good *drool*) i have apx 1200 atk to 1450ish atk buffed. my ac sits around the 1k-12oo mark i think.. i can and have tanked many ... many ldons.
i used ldon to get from 47-56 pretty much. the ldon bp would be an excellent upgrade for any zerk if you can manage the ef points by 55-60ish ( i haven't obviously)
our snare is a ton of agro. more agro then a druids snare.
( counting in i got the top of the list bonus agro too) by alot.

upon reaching 62. i got a PoV west wall group killing golems cuz they single pull. we could not for the life of us find another tank when ours left. we had a shammy a druid a necro and a cleric and me. so i said well.. i think i can get another druid. and i think im enough AGRO to keep this mob here and you guys burn it to the ground. the shaman was so impressed with the amount of agro i generated he would slow malo and cripple the mob as fast as he possible could. i never lost agro once while my companions nuked the mob into the mud it was hardened into. we did this for about an hour till the group split up.
zerks make great taggers for a group tanking or not. now were not supposed to be a tank but we can fake it.
you probably know what tagging is but i'll remind you its when a monk pulls fds and calls tag target to pull it on a multipull thats retreating do to the fd.
the reason we make good "taggers" is because we get a "Ranged deagro" (-400 or something hate) if we pull with distracting strike after said called tag... THIS IS NOT A LULL.. mobs don't like it when you throw an axe at there face even if your just trying to "confuse them"
warcry's are supposed to be fixed on 10/25 for real.. my understanding of said fix was that an error was made in the datat exchange needed to move the warcry to the bard songs window.
that is going to be a huge change for us. we won't ruin a rogues disc or a monks.
and if they use there disc they'll beable to get ours mid run when they finish. warcrys last 1min +aa's extend them and lower reuse of 30mins. ( rmemember i don't have aa's)

i know this was an extremly long post.
but i can tell you this i love my zerk they do have isssues.. 1.5 epic blows.... i could just post our top 10..i won't its a new class sony will get it iron'd out and running smooth
my zerk was my First character in everquest so im partial to them for this. i have made a necro and a shammy and a rogue. i can tell you now comming into the game not knowing i was broke till i already had my epic... i think we were pretty fun. can we solo? no not really i can on trash lbs mobs and stuff that hits as if it slow's dbs.

oh and with my epic at 64 buff'd my max hit is 304. my max crit is 499 the most i have every done with our increase damage disc for a reg hit so far 571 my best life time crit( on a greeny trash mob with incraase damage disc going) 708 at lvl 58 ( the day we got crits) usually if im really needing to hold up the dps i perfer the "you cannot miss disc" for actual total damage delt to mob during disc. im hitting the oow expiditon mobs for 145 avg.. that include frenzy my non frenzy avg is proably very very close to 215.
