Yeah, I know these sort of questions are older than God, but please humor me as I am going out of my mind.
I'm coming back to EQ in a month or so, and I have it finally narrowed down to Necromancer, or Paladin. I have played both of these classes before (Necro to 48-49 I cannot remember, and Pally to 51) so I have an Idea of what to expect from them.
I quit the Necro because I felt that the pet was weak, if the mob wasn't feared then the Skelly got handed his **** too fast. Now I know alot of this is opinion, but tell me your opinion, I know both classes have their ups and downs.
You see I love being MT in a group with the Pally, saving the CLeric/Chanter when they get aggro, and I know Paladins can solo reasonably well until higher levels where there is a lack of undead and Pally dps makes it too dangerous to try.
But I've always been a loner, I like to group occasionally, but I prefer to do my own thing. I started playing this game half a year after Luclin came out, so I haven't seen a whole hell of alot of things besides PoP and Ldon (I never played very seriously, tried alot of classes, quit and came back etc.)
SO I'm thinking, with a Necro I can visit many more zones solo than any other class, zones not many people go to, zones that no one cares about anymore. Especially in Kunark and Luclin.
My problem is, is the soloability of a Necro worth more than the semi soloability of a Pally + having a fun group role. I know this is one of those "its up to you man" types of questions, but help me make up my mind. :)
A friend who is on WoW and EQ said hes gonna give EQ up so he can concentrate on school (since WoW is so wussified) so hes gonna give me like 50k plat or something. I had a 59 wizzy (my highest level toon ever) and I know what its like to look for caster gear. Its more fun to get melee gear but, which type tends to be more expensive, caster or melee gear?
Anyways I'll shut up now, too many questions already, I hate people like me =p
Thanks for your time and help.
